Spoons

Weaning spoons, special spoons for feeding a small baby, should have a shallow bowl and a long handle to reach into jars. Some weaning spoons are heat sensitive and change color to show you when food is too hot.

When you child starts to feed himself/herself, buy utensils with wide or looped handles that are easy for small hands to grasp. Remember though, it will be a few more months before your child can get food from bowl to mouth with a utensil.
Try giving your child his/her very own set of meal utensils as a reward for good table manners.
