Treatment of Lactose Intolerance

The most common way to treat lactose intolerance is to limit the amount of dairy the person takes in. For people with primary or secondary lactose intolerance some dairy can still be tolerated.

Foods to Avoid

Fresh Milk
Powdered Milk
Buttermilk
Evaporated Milk
Sweetened Condensed Milk

Foods to Try

Cheese
Yogurt
Ice Cream
Pudding
Custard

 

You may have to try out these foods and find out for yourself how much of each you can eat. Start with only a little of these foods and slowly try to eat more.
