Preparing

Many foods come in contact with each other during preparation. This is the time many foods can get bacteria from other foods. While preparing foods make sure to keep raw foods away from other groceries. Follow these tips for preparing food.

Safety

Keep raw meat, poultry, and seafood away from other foods.

Do not use the same cutting board for raw meats and other foods without washing the cutting board first. Try and use a separate surface for preparing raw meats.

Safety

Do not use a leftover sauce or marinade on freshly cooked foods. Boil leftovers for one minute before adding them to fresh food.

Do not use utensils (knife, brush, etc.) which have been used on raw meat on cooked foods.

Do not place cooked food on plates or pans that have had raw food on them. Wash any dishes which have come in contact with raw food before reusing them.Safety

Always defrost or marinate foods in the refrigerator, not on the counter. You may also defrost foods in the microwave or under cold water.

When camping, carry raw meats in separate sealed containers. If you can use a separate cooler for raw meats.

When preparing foods early store them in small containers in the refrigerator.
