Nutritious Breakfast

Smoothies:

Smoothies make a great breakfast. The right kind of smoothies have vitamins, minerals, and tastes great too. Smoothies are often made with real fruit juice.

Here are some ideas for making smoothies at home:

Mixed Fruit Smoothie
Mix Yogurt, Bananas, Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, or your choice of fruit. Blend in the blender until smooth.

Bfast

Purple Smoothie
Mix 1/3 cup thawed grape juice concentrate with 1 banana and 1 cup of milk. Add 1/2 cup of ice cubes. Blend.

Kids who eat breakfast are more likely to get the nutrients their bodies need.

Store Bought Ideas:

Breakfast Bars and Yogurt
Many varieties of breakfast bars are available in grocery stores. Granola bars are a healthy option. Also, yogurt bars a can provide the necessary vitamins a child needs. New cereal bars combine the calcium in milk with many of the cereals children love.

When choosing a breakfast bar or yogurt snack it is a good idea to check the labels to make sure they are not heavy in sugar. Sugary breakfasts only give children a short boost in energy.
