The Facts of Heart Healthy Beans

Beans do not always causes bloating.

It is true that beans cause most people to have intestinal gas and/or belching when they are not eaten regularly. Vegetarians, who eat dry beans everyday as a source of protein, are not discomforted by intestinal gas. Food

Eating less beans means more gas; more beans in your diet will result in less gas. When you add beans to your diet gradually (over a 3 to 8 week period) and eaten regularly (daily or at least 3 times a week), gas will disappear.

Beans are not fattening, the foods eaten with them sometimes are.

1 cup of cooked beans contains 230 calories. This is equal to the calories found in 1 cup of cooked rice, pasta, or a 7 ounce baked potato. Beans are high in fiber and low in fat. Food
