Family: Beans For Energy

Home | Pregnancy | After Delivery | Babies | Toddlers | Preschoolers | Family | Parenting

Dry beans contain enough protein to be included in the protein foods or meat group of the Food Guide Pyramid. Dry beans contain no cholesterol, little fat, and lots of fiber and complex carbohydrates.

Since it is suggested that you have two servings of the combined protein group a day, you could eat 1 serving of legumes and 1 of meat, fish, or poultry.Food

Serving beans with foods such as rice, bread, cereal, pasta, cornbread or tortillas, any meat, or milk product will provide a complete protein.

Together these foods provide a complete protein your body can absorb and use to build skin, bones, hair, blood, and so on.
