What does the Virginia Healthy Start Initiative (VHSI) plan to do?
VHSI plans to expand and strengthen existing programs of the Virginia Department of Health as follows:

• Resource Mothers will strengthen support services available to pregnant teens and expand the services available to pregnant women ages 20-24.
• The Fetal/Infant Mortality Review Program will increase understanding on what factors cause infant mortality.
• Regional Perinatal Coordinating Councils will coordinate community-based health care systems that serve women of reproductive age and infants.
