The State of Virginia insures its employees with malpractice insurance.
Each dentist and hygienist is obligated to practice dentistry as prescribed by the Statutes and Regulations of the Virginia Board of Dentistry. Please note that while the state is insured against the negative or criminal act of an employee, the employee is not. An example of this might be the slapping of a patient or an action not covered under the rules and regulations of the Virginia Board of Dentistry.
When an occurrence takes place, which you believe might result in a claim, suit, action or other proceeding, please contact your Health District Business Manager immediately so that the proper form can be completed.
