Welcome to the Virginia Dental Directory for Individuals with Special Health Care Needs and Young Children

This directory was compiled to identify dentists who will care for adult or child patients with special needs and to establish a statewide directory. Dentists responded to a questionnaire from the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Dental Association in June 2008.

The directory is a tool to be used by health professionals as well as parents, social workers, and anyone looking for a dentist who treats patients with special needs. The goal is to facilitate access and referral of individuals with special health care needs to those dentists listed in the directory.

The directory can also be used to identify dentists who treat young children using the Advanced Search option.

The Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Dental Association would like to thank each of the dentists listed in this directory for their interest in treating patients with special health care needs. We also would like to thank the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Dental Medicine, for allowing us to use their materials.

This project was funded by the Maternal and Child Health Block Grant.
