One of the goals of the Division of Dental Health is to prevent dental decay and reduce the social and financial burden of this chronic disease.
The Division of Dental Health provides funding for the initiation and upgrade of equipment to maintain optimal adjusted community water fluoridation. Funding also provides staff for technical assistance and quality assurance through monitoring of community fluoride levels. Systems are identified for initiation of fluoride or the replacement of fluoridation equipment through the use of water systems surveys and water treatment plant inspections reports from VDH Office of Drinking Water.
