The Virginia Department of Health, in collaboration with VCU School of Dentistry, is offering training for general dentists wishing to increase their ability to provide care for children with special health care needs and very young children. Dr. Tegwyn Brickhouse, Associate Professor of Pediatric Dentistry, will present a one-day lecture including an overview of special health care conditions, patient behavioral management techniques, infant oral health assessment and prevention, and sedation. The lecture will be followed by a clinical session that is individually scheduled on a later date. A total of 12 hours of Continuing Education Units will be earned at no charge to attendees. The next all-day seminar is on August 21, 2009 and another is scheduled for September 25, 2009.
