arThe Division of Injury and Violence Prevention offers a variety of trainings free of charge to educators, health professionals and organizations in Virginia. There are a number of trainings that DIVP provides that are available upon request. Click here to see the list of trainings that are offered. If you are interested in organizing one of the free trainings please contact the appropriate program coordinator listed by each training. The staff at DIVP will provide trainings and presentations throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia at no cost to your organization.

Suicide Prevention Training
Learn QPR ONLINE! (For Individuals and Organizations)
The QPR Institute and its educational partner Eastern Washington University are pleased to announce the first suicide prevention gatekeeper training program to be delivered online.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer, three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. QPR is the most widely taught gatekeeper training program in the United States, and more than 250,000 adults have been trained in classroom settings in more than 40 states. The National Children's Advocacy Center Academy Online offers free online training for professionals on such topics as "Developmental Perspectives on Child Sexual Behavior in Children and Adolescents," "Profiling the Child Molester," and "Standards for Prevention Programs." http://www.nationalcac2.org/


National Injury Prevention Web Seminars and Webcasts

A Call to Men: Ending Domestic Violence, Becoming Part of the Solution
This archived web seminar discusses strategies for working with men and boys to prevent intimate partner violence. Click here to learn more.

The ABCs of Bullying: Addressing, Blocking, and Curbing School Aggression
This online course examines the causes and effects of bullying, prevention techniques and programs, screening, treatment options, and legal/ethical issues surrounding bullying. It is designed for professionals in education, health and mental health, and related fields, including social workers, school counselors, school nurses, teachers, and principals. Because this course focuses on prevention, particular attention has been given to the problem of bullying in elementary and middle school. Prevention materials are intended for students in elementary through high school and for community-wide use. The Resources section includes publications, telephone hotlines, Web sites, videos, and other materials that provide additional information on school bullying and other topics relating to violence.

Prevention Connection Web Forums: A series of on-line conferences will explore the efforts to end violence against women before it happens in the first place. Prevention experts will present on a range of topics. www.PreventConnect.org

The Center for Injury Research and Control (CIRCL) is an interdisciplinary academic research program involving many schools and departments at the University of Pittsburgh. The Center conducts and promotes injury control research, gathers and disseminates information on injuries, provides training for health professionals, and informs public and community leaders on injury control issues. CICRL hosts online webinars as part of the Injury Control Research Grand Rounds. These free webinars are web-based seminars offered on the second Tuesday of the month from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Participants can be an interactive participant of the live seminars or view recordings of previous seminars.
