  • The Sexual Violence Prevention Program has implemented targeted outreach to men. This outreach allows men and those working with men to become part of the solution to the problem of sexual violence. More information on this initiative can be found at www.menendingviolence.com
  • www.paramihija.com is an expansion of the "Isn't She a Little Young – sex with a minor, don't go there" campaign. This is a very basic web page in Spanish discussing why statutory rape and sexual coercion of minor teens by adults is a problem. There are some warning signs of abusive relationships (borrowed from ChooseRespect.org), a brochure in Spanish discussing how to avoid sexual coercion (under "Recursos"), national links, and the "Gracias Papa"  radio spots. The "Gracias Papa" campaign consist of a set of three radio spots that feature Latino fathers with daughters. The fathers talk about the opportunities they want for their children and how older men should not be dating younger teens.

  • Choose Respect is a national initiative sponsored by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that encourages adolescents to adopt healthy behaviors to prevent dating abuse. Choose Respect targets 11- to 14-year-olds with positive messages to help them develop skills to maintain respectful relationships throughout their lives. The website offers a variety of resources and interactive features for teens, parents, and professionals. http://www.chooserespect.org/scripts/

  • CAVNET (Communities Against Violence Network) is committed to providing current and exhaustive information for professionals involved in the fight against violence in our society. The site is committed to making important resources and contact information available to the public in an electronic format.

  • Learn about internet safety and cyber responsibility from i-Safe America at www.i-safe.org

Posters

  • Buy the National Sexual Violence Resource Center's Sexual Assault Awareness Month poster, Build Healthy Respectful Relationships at http://www.nsvrc.org/saam/nsvrc_products.aspx.  Magnets, stickers and pins are also available at the site.

  • The Teen Dating Violence Task Force developed an Awareness Packet. This packet is a series of five posters addressing teen dating violence prevention with the theme of "Teen dating violence: You can't ignore it." The posters are available for download or can be ordered by calling the Virginia Family Violence and Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-838-8238.

  • You may order free Men of Strength posters from DIVP . This set of four posters designed by Men Can Stop Rape is designed to raise awareness of sexual and dating violence among youth and highlight the vital role young men can play in fostering healthy, safe relationships. Organized around the theme line "My Strength is Not for Hurting," the Campaign emphasizes how men can be strong without using intimidation, force or violence. Videos

  • The Division of Injury and Violence Prevention, along with the Division of Women's and Infant's Health developed the video, "A Single Moment of Decision - Preventing Sexual Coercion" and produced by EAF Productions. This is a professionally-produced training video for nurses working with adolescents. It teaches about sexual coercion and how to recognize and prevent it. The video shows scenes of two young adolescent girls visiting the public health clinic. Additionally, the video depicts realistic situations in which the adolescent girls are experiencing coercion.  Click here to order a copy of the video.

  • The DIVP produced a video "Talk to Me: Talking to Your Teen About Dating Violence and Sexual Assault" with VAVS Productions. This video offers 10 communication tips for parents and shows four realistic scenes highlighting parents' discussions with their teens. Click here to order. Additionally, a companion brochures are available.

  • Henrico County Community Criminal Justice Board produced a video, "Open Arms? Open Eyes! Power, Control and Abuse in Teen Relationships", for adolescents. This video may be ordered at low cost from Henrico County Community Criminal Justice Board at 804-501-5188. A preview of the video and teacher resource materials is available at the above website.

  • The Family and Children's Trust Fund offers 3 videos: “ Protecting Children: A Mandated Reporters Guide to Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect ” , “ Protecting Adults at Risk: A Mandated Reporters Guide to Recognizing and Reporting Suspected Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation ” and “ Beyond the Numbers: The Reality of Abuse ” . Each of these videos is available at low cost by calling 804-726-7604.

Logic Model and Program Design
This PowerPoint contains information on how to plan a prevention program using a logic model design. It also shows how to develop a logic model for a program that is already being implemented within an organization.
