The Division provides funding and technical assistance to local sexual assault centers so that they can offer prevention education in local communities. The Division collects and analyzes data on the prevalence of sexual violence, provides training and develops and promotes resources. The Division provides outreach to males to encourage involvement in the issue and addresses the problem of statutory rape through training, education and a public awareness campaign.

  • New report on screening for sexual violence in health care settings Screening for Sexual Violence: Gaps in Research and Recommendations for Change. Data shows that the majority of women who are victims of childhood or adult sexual violence do not go to hospitals, do not tell their families, and are hesitant to speak to their friends about it. But survivors of sexual violence do make frequent visits to health care services. This document discusses that providers could be central in improving the outcomes of survivors of violence if they screened, educated and referred their patients.
