Child Passenger Safety Week 2008 September 21st – 28th 2008
Through education, training, enforcement, and community outreach, Virginia Department of Health seeks to ensure that all children ages 0-16 are properly restrained in an appropriate restraint system for their age and size every time they travel in a motor vehicle. While great progress has been achieved in recent years in preventing child occupant deaths and injuries, and increasing the correct use of child safety seats, booster seats and safety belts motor vehicle crashes are still the leading cause of death among children.

Fit Station Challenge!!

National Child Passenger Safety Week 2008 is focusing on YOU, the Permanent Fit Stations! VDH is looking to you to show your community how important child passenger safety is in everyone’s lives. The Fit Station Challenge is a contest among all of the Permanent Fit Stations statewide to see how many activities you can do during the month of September for Child Passenger Safety Week.

What are the points for?
With each child passenger safety community activity you complete, you will accumulate points. These points can be used to earn various types of child passenger safety supplies to help you operate your Permanent Fit Station throughout the year.

Am I limited in my activities?
No! The more activities you do, the more points you will receive, and the more supplies you can earn! You can do the activities more than once, so start planning!

What do I do?
Plan your activities! You have the month of September to complete as many activities as you can! Document each activity using the activity form and take some pictures of your activities. Make sure you have the parents permission to post pictures on the Buckle Up Virginia website and in the newsletter! Complete all of your forms and submit by October 10th with your supply list.

Have some fun and educate your community about Child Passenger Safety!
