Power and Control Wheels
The power and control wheel was developed to provide a visual
framework for understanding the dynamics of abusive relationships
and conceptualizing the array of behaviors that may be used
by one partner to maintain power and control over another.
Over time, modifications of the wheel have been developed
to provide describe tactics specific to certain occupations,
age groups, etc., and equality wheels have been developed
to provide visuals for understanding healthy relationships.
The wheels are frequently used as training tools in helping
the audience have a better understanding of the complexities
of a violent intimate partner relationship.
