Funding Opportunities

Bullying Prevention Mini-Grants For Elementary and Middle Schools

The Mini-Grant will be awarded to 30 schools.

Included are the following:

  • Training for the school’s Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committee by a Certified Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Trainer/Consultant;
  • Consultation for the school for 18 months by the Certified Olweus Bullying Prevention Trainer/Consultant;
  • Program materials necessary for implementation;
  • Technical assistance from the VCU Center for School-Community Collaboration;
  • Participation in research on program outcomes;
  • Expense-paid participation in two Networking Conferences;
  • Small stipends to members of the school’s Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committee—up to a total of $1000 per school for the grant period.

Funding for the mini-grants comes from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention initiative to Enhance State Capacity to Address Child and Adolescent Health through Violence Prevention. The Virginia Department of Health—Division of Injury and Violence Prevention received the federal grant.

Mini-grant awards will be based upon availability of federal funds and will be administered by the VCU Center for School-Community Collaboration.
