Child Passenger Safety

Motor vehicle crashes continue to be a leading cause of injury related hospitalization and death among all Virginians. Children are particularly at risk of incurring injuries in a motor vehicle crash as vehicle safety systems are created to protect adults. As a result, special attention needs to be given to the occupant safety of children.

Law Alert

Resources for Parents and Caregivers

There are several resources available to assist parents and caregivers in properly restraining their children in child safety seats.

-How do I get a child safety seat or booster seat if I can't afford one?

-How do I find out if my safety seat is installed correctly?

-Are you using it right?

-Is my child in the right safety seat?

-How can I find out if my child safety seat has been recalled?

-How do I choose a booster seat?

-Why booster seats?

-My child is over 8 years old. How will I know when my child is ready for a seatbelt?

-I have a child with special needs and I need information on selecting a safety seat?

-Are there resources for my childcare provider?
