DIVP Funding & Safety Device Distribution Opportunities

The Child Safety Seat Distribution and Education Program promotes, purchases and distributes child safety seats to families who could otherwise not afford them. Child safety seats are purchased using a collection of funds from the fines from child safety seat traffic infractions. Approximately 47,500 safety seats have been distributed since 1996 at over 120 distribution sites statewide. Ongoing regular training, assistance and refresher courses are provided to staff to enable them to educate safety seat recipients about correct installation and use of child safety seats. Click here to learn more about the qualifications of getting a free safety seat.

The Get Alarmed, Virginia! program is funded by a state-secured federal grant from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since its implementation, the Get Alarmed, Virginia! program has been credited with saving the lives of more than 66 men, women and children across the Commonwealth of Virginia and with preventing millions of dollars in property loss. The program provides: smoke detectors, funding to purchase equipment for installing alarms (ladders, drills, etc.), educational materials (brochures, posters, videos), program promotion materials (t-shirts, signs/banners, media packets). Click here to learn more about Get Alarmed, Virginia! and how your community can participate.
