Educating people about the importance of helmet safety is the first step in reducing the number of bicycle related injuries.

Every year, May is recognized nationally as bicycle safety month. As May brings warmer weather, adults and children begin to participate in outdoor activities. May is an optimal time to bring the issues of bicycle and helmet safety to the forefront.

Conducting bicycle rodeos, health fairs, editorials and helmet drives are all great avenues to raise public awareness about these issues. CIVP offers free materials and resources to assist communities with their educational efforts.
