Welcome to School Age Health

Mission: To promote the health of school aged children in Virginia.

Overview:

The Virginia Department of Health collaborates with the Virginia Department
of Education to:

• Develop and update guidelines that present current, practical health information and recommendations for the development of local programs and policies related to health care services for students.
• Develop training and education opportunities.
• Provide consultation and technical assistance to school health professionals.
• Provide school health needs assessment to school health professionals.
• Provide school health related resources to school health professionals.

The Virginia Department of Health also interfaces with other state agencies to provide up to date information on services and resources for school health professionals.
