Child Care Provider Health Trainers

Are you interested in becoming a child care provider health trainer?
Offering health trainings for child care providers in your community can help promote the healthy development of all children in child care. Quality trainings need quality trainers.  It is important to understand not only licensing regulations pertinent to each type of child care, but be aware of evidence based best practices as well. The Virginia Department of Social Services Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers and The Virginia Department of Social Services Minimum Standards for Licensed Child Day Homes contain the requirements needed for child day centers and homes to be licensed. Caring for Our Children: National Health and Safety Performance Standards: Guidelines for Out-of-Home Child Care Programs: (Second Edition) provides a set of standards that reflect evidenced based best practice for all children in child care.

For Child Care Health Consultants
Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC) Training – This four day comprehensive course is for health professionals who work, or plan to work with child care providers on an ongoing basis.  Course participants receive instruction in providing expert guidance and technical assistance to child care providers on a wide range of health and safety topics.  In addition, at course completion, CCHC are able to access appropriate resources to assist the child care provider in successfully including children with special health, medical and/or behavior needs.
