Research has shown that the period of early childhood represents a time of substantial brain development that has a significant impact on children's later emotional and intellectual development. What children know and can do at the time they start school helps determine their educational and lifelong success.
The goal of the Healthy Child Care Virginia program is to promote the healthy development of all children in child care, including those with special health needs, to increase access to preventive health services, and to create safe physical environments for children.
