Data and statistics about people with disabilities are very valuable to service providers, advocacy organizations, health care organizations, and state agencies. Unfortunately, little data is available, due to confidentiality issues. There are national data and statistics available, but many of the localities in Virginia would like to have this information specific to their areas.
This kind of information would allow service providers in the local communities to target the populations that have the most needs for health promotion and educations programs, and health care services. The Health Promotion for People with Disabilities Project has funded a few data and statistics reports, which we have made available.
