Virginia Diabetes Prevention and Control Project (DPCP)

The Virginia Diabetes Prevention and Control Project (DPCP) is a state-level public health resource providing leadership for diabetes prevention and control initiatives and working to eliminate diabetes health disparities. The Virginia DPCP is housed in the Division of Chronic Disease Prevention and Control within the Virginia Department of Health.

The Virginia DPCP has lead efforts to reduce the impact of diabetes in Virginia since 1993. The Virginia DPCP is funded solely by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Diabetes Translation.

Comprehensive Diabetes Burden Report, 2009
This report provides a comprehensive look at the burden of diabetes in Virginia and nationally. Data from 2006-2007 on the following topics is included: Diabetes prevalence for all types of diabetes, diabetes risk factors, diabetes hospitalizations and costs, diabetes mortality, end-stage renal disease, and diabetes management practices.
