Coalitions and Partners
Goal
The mission of the Virginia Healthy Pathways Coalition is to provide a forum for communication and collaboration among cardiovascular disease (CVD) stakeholders with the intent to reduce the burden of CVD in Virginia.

Objectives
The Virginia Healthy Pathways Coalition will:
- Update Virginia’s Plan for the Prevention of CVD, assuring alignment with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program Priorities.
- Disseminate the CVD plan to CVD stakeholders and encourage support of plan objectives by all stakeholders.
- Regularly assess the strengths and weaknesses of collaborative activities, and take steps to address the weaknesses.
- Broaden the scope of CVD risk reduction activities in Virginia.
- Increase advocacy efforts, environmental and policy support and partnerships for cardiovascular health (CVH) in Virginia.

MEMBERSHIP:
There are more than 50 organizations represented in the membership of the Virginia Healthy Pathways Coalition, including:
- National organizations such as the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP);
- Local churches and statewide faith based organizations such as the Baptist General Convention of Virginia;
- Health care providers such as hospitals, health systems, and local health departments;
- The Virginia Department of Education and local schools systems;
- Non-profit organizations;
- Business representation by the Virginia Business Coalition on Health;
- The Virginia Department of Health, Divisions of Dental Health, Injury & Violence Prevention, WIC & Community Nutrition Services, and Chronic Disease Prevention and Control (Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention and Diabetes Prevention and Control Projects); and
- Professional organizations such as the Virginia Dietetic Association, Virginia Pharmacists Association Research & Education Foundation and the Virginia Dietetic Association.
