Virginia Asthma Control Project (VACP)

In 2001, the Virginia Asthma Control Project (VACP) was created by the Virginia Department of Health to reduce the increasing burden of Asthma in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The VACP is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and administered by the Virginia Department of Health's Division of Chronic Disease and Prevention and Control.

The mission of the Virginia Asthma Control Project is to improve the health of all Virginian's by reducing the impact of asthma. We are working to expand and improve services in the following areas:


VIRGINIA ASTHMA CONTROL PROJECT GOALS

The goals of the Virginia Asthma Control Project are to reduce the number of deaths, hospitalizations, emergency department visits, school or workdays missed, and limitations on activity due to asthma.

The program supports the goals and objectives of Healthy People 2010 for asthma.
