WISEWOMAN

In July 2008, EWL received $650,000 in federal funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to add the WISEWOMAN program to its list of services. The WISEWOMAN program is a cardiovascular disease prevention project that will provide screenings and referrals for high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and high blood glucose as well as provide lifestyle behavior interventions for physical activity, nutrition and smoking cessation. Virginia was one of 6 new states and tribal organizations to receive the WISEWOMAN funding. For more information on WISEWOMAN, contact Lindsay Parker at (804)-864-7759 or Lindsay Herbert at (804)-864-7724.
