What Services Are Covered?
Your clinic visit
Breast and cervical cancer screening exams; and
Some extra tests, if your screening exams show that we need more information.
What Screening Exams Will Be Done?
These four exams will be done by a doctor or nurse:
Clinical Breast Exam – Your doctor or nurse will look at your breasts and feel for any lumps or other problems. This is am important exam, and should be done every year. This is a good time to tell your doctor or nurse if you are having any problems with your breasts.
Mammogram – A mammogram is an x-ray of your breast. Mammograms are very safe, and should be done every year if you are over the age of 40.
Pelvic Exam – A pelvic exam is when your doctor or nurse will feel your female organs from the inside. You should have a pelvic exam every year.
Pap Test – Your doctor or nurse will look at your cervix during the pelvic exam and take some cells. The cells will be sent to a lab to be tested.
What Happens If You Need Extra Tests?
Sometimes after a screening exam your doctor will need more information.
Your doctor or nurse will talk more about the tests you need, and how they can help you.
You may be afraid of having more tests, but the information is very important. This is why you should have all of the tests you need done.
Most of the tests will be paid for, but some tests are not. Ask your doctor or nurse if you will have to pay for any tests.
What If You Have Breast Or Cervical Cancer?
If you do have breast or cervical cancer, you may be eligible to have your treatment paid for by Medicaid.
You will have to pay a small fee for Medicaid services. For example, the charge for a clinic visit may be $1.00.
When you are done with your treatment, your Medicaid coverage will end.
