• The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), an on-going telephone health survey system, tracks health conditions and risk behaviors of adults in the United States. From 2005-2007, the Virginia BRFSS survey included questions on Sexual Violence. The BRFSS fact sheet on Sexual Violence 2005-2007 uses the data from 2005 and 2007 to estimate the extent of sexual violence among Virginian adults 18 and older.

The data included in this report are from a variety of sources, but still only represent a fraction of the total victims because sexual violence is such an underreported crime.
