Buckle Up, Virginia!
The Division provides technical assistance to individuals, organizations and agencies pertaining to the proper installation of child safety seats. The Division collects and analyzes data on the prevalence of injuries and fatalities related to child passenger safety and develops and promotes resources. The Division provides freechild safety seats and booster seats to those families that could otherwise not afford them and supports the local events and locations where the public can learn how to properly install their safety seat. The Division also oversees the training of nationally certified child passenger safety technicians and provides trainings on the safe transportation of children in childcare and with special needs.

Child Passenger Safety Week 2009 will be September 12th - 18th
Through education, training, enforcement, and community outreach, Virginia Department of Health seeks to ensure that all children ages 0-16 are properly restrained in an appropriate restraint system for their age and size every time they travel in a motor vehicle. While great progress has been achieved in recent years in preventing child occupant deaths and injuries, and increasing the correct use of child safety seats, booster seats and safety belts motor vehicle crashes are still the leading cause of death among children. National Seat Check Saturday will be held on Saturday, September 12th. Please make a note of the new dates!
