About Us

The Office of Family Health Services is the largest of the 10 offices in the Virginia Department of Health. It consists of one center, six divisions and some 50 programs.

OUR MISSION

To assess the health needs of the commonwealth, and to assist individuals, families and communities in becoming as healthy as they can. We do this by promoting good health habits, preventing disease and protecting residents from environmental hazards.

OUR EFFORTS take a three-pronged approach:

Assessing the health of Virginia's individuals, families and communities in areas of family health, women's health, children's health and chronic disease;

Assuring that priority health issues are addressed

Developing policies that promote good health while making the best use of available resources.
